I was proud of Chirani this week because she was very responsible when asked to do a job for the school. She is trying really hard with her work and is achieving her goals. Well done, Chirani and keep up the good work.
Morgan is a very popular child in our grade. He is caring and kind to the others and is concerned if anyone else is hurt. Morgan tries really hard in the grade and has made steady progress throughout the year. Congratulations Morgan.
Nicole is new to our school this term. She has settled in really well to our grade and has made lots of friends. Nicole is trying really hard to improve her work and likes to do extra work at home. She has achieved her goal this term of improving her handwriting. Congratulations Nicole and keep up the good work.
Our new writing topic is Procedures. We have been learning that a procedure gives us instructions on how to make, do, design and create something. We have written our own procedures on something we are an expert on such as cleaning our teeth or getting ready for school. This week we wrote a procedure on how to ice and decorate biscuits. We then made our own and ate them. YUM!!!!
Well it has been an exciting and busy 2 weeks with our grade going swimming everyday. Everyone was organised each day and eventhough the weather wasn't great we still enjoyed our lessons. We learned how to swim freestyle, backstoke, tread water and dive in safely. There was even some of us that were practising swimming the length of the pool. The final day was the best because we got to play games and have fun!
It is great to have Ryan back this term. He is a hard working student who has settled back into our routine very quickly. He loves reading non-fiction books and is asking questions to deepen his knowledge of the text. Ryan loves maths and is a regular contributor during problem solving activities. Congratulations Ryan.
Last week in maths we investigated Symmetry. First we folded paper in half and cut out shapes and when we opened up the shapes the designs were symmetrical. Next we worked with a partner to create a shape using 2 rectangles and 2 triangles. We then pasted all our shapes on and looked to see if any of the shapes were the same. We found out that some shapes were the same but just transformed either by flipping, turning or sliding the shape. Today we used the same triangle shape but tried flipping, sliding and turning the shape to create a different position for our shape.
