Student of the Week

This week our Student of the Week was Shyla Wood. Shyla is a very helpful memeber of our grade. If ever Mrs. Wynde needs something done she is the first to offer. Shyla is working hard to improve her work and has produced some very good writing pieces. Congratulations, Shyla!
Other nominations for Student of the Week were Sarah, Emma, and Daud.

Easter Maths

Maths can be fun! This was proven this week when we had a rotation of Easter maths activities. Mrs. Wynde had a group on the floor that examined a bag of easter eggs. We looked at the weight, estimated how many eggs were in the packet, counted the amount, grouped them by colour, made a pictograph with the eggs and made up some easter addition sums. Some children even used calculators to add all the colours.Another group used 2 dimensional shapes to create an Easter chick. The 3rd group had fun doing an easter maths sheet.

WRITING

Hello to our blog followers. This week we would like to tell you what special writing we have started to do. Once a week we have a free writing session where we can write about anything we like. We are calling it our diary writing. Mrs. Wynde is encouraging us to bring in photos or medals that we have won and write about them. She is always telling us we have plenty to talk about so now we are going to write about it.
Each week Mrs. Wynde models a lessons for us so if we are not sure what to write about she gives us an idea. Last week it was what makes us happy and this week it was on a special day.
Mrs Wynde liked some of our writing so we thought we would put them on the blog.
Ain writes:
I like the beach. My dad likes playing cricket on the beach. My mum plays with my sister in the shallow end. But I like surfing on the waves.

Emma writes:
I love snow days. One day my family and I made an igloo.Me and Dryden play in it then me, Dryden and Isabelle had some hot chocolate.

Jacob writes:
My dog is a police dog. She makes me happy when I play with her. When I went to the farm I rode my bike on the road.

Student of the Week

Micaela is our student of the week. Each day we pick a student of the day and they receive a lollipop. At the end of the week all 5 student's names are put in a container and a Student of the Week is chosen. They can then pick a prize from a special gift box. Micaela chose some Gel Pens.

The students and I believe Micaela was a good student of the week because she has been trying really hard to put more detail into her writing. She uses initiative and finds things to do when she has finished her work. Micaela is also a good friend and takes care of students who are hurt or sad. Congratulations, Micaela!

SMARTIES IN A BOX

In maths we have been collecting data and creating lots of graphs. The children have made a Favourite Colour graph, a Pets Graph, Cars in the Carpark Graph and a Smarties in a Box Graph.
Today we wrote a Recount about what we did when we made our Smarties Graph.
On Wednesday we made a smarties graph. First Mrs. Wynde gave us a small box of smarties.
Next we counted our smarties. We found everyone did not have the same amount. Some people had 12 smarties and some had 14.
After that we arranged our smarties in columns according to colour. Then we had to colour the smarties on the graph paper. We then had to write 2 sentences about what colour had the most in the box and what colour had the least.
Finally we were allowed to eat our smarties.

March

Hi everyone. Welcome to our blog. We are very excited about being able to tell you what we are doing in our classroom. Just last Friday we had a projector and screen installed which will enable us to use I.C.T more often in our classroom. Already the children have created a graph and watched a video story.
